HTML is turned off so you can't link or embed any pictures

Maybe elrick can change this feature.

no, please dont put any pics in the actual threads. It makes them take a longer to load, especially if everyone does it. It's a free version of the forum so speed and bandwidth can be an issue at times. I used to have html on but at some point forumco disabled it for security reasons if I remember correctly. The last time I tried to turn it back on, it wouldnt let me. So forum code will have to do for now. Sorry guys.

Way of the Warrior. Good to see a fellow photographer on here...
I'm currently experimenting a lot, I'm 15 and making out what kind of subject I want to pay the most attention to... At this moment that is nature because I am connected with the nature around me, It gives me energy...

Probably going to start taking photographs at rallies in a few months, I'll see how it turns out...

In the meantime, let me show you some of my recent photographs scattered around websites where I know they are in good hands.

Nice one Daan, some good work there young lad

Commentary you say? - well i would be inclined to do some heavy cropping on some of them shots, namely the Pheasants shots and also the 2 bee shots. Im getting distracted by the cluttering backround which is taking the impact away from the image! Albiet, this is constructive critisicm and not to be taken to heart man

I absolutly LOVE the shot of the chicklings in the nest, Outstanding work man, outstanding!!

Cool, good to see another Photographer on here. Should start a new thread just for images lol

I love constructive critism ;)

I understand the cropping... Might do that later on.

Did you read the discription on the chicklings? If not, you must read it haha...

What camera do you use?
I use a Canon EOS 400D, the standard lense most ppl buy with it and a 500mm for most of my bird photographs.

You would love the nature we get here, and I would probably love the nature where you life!

P.S.: What do you think about the composition on the geese shot?

It looks like a Canada Goose? Its a great shot man, tho i would be inclined to have space around its left side and not the right. The reason i say that is because its good to have a bot of space for which the subject is moving in to or out of. With this Goose here, it is moving to ITS left so creating more space here would give the viewer a sense of were the bird is going, and not one of a dead end - if you know what i mean? If its head is facing left, then leave space left, and vica versa for the right!!!

Im a Nikon buff -

Nikon D70/D50/D40x/D200 and soon to be the D300. Far to many lenses to list lolol.

Your actually not to far from me so we would probably share the same nature and wildlife. I say some because imsure we have are differences. Your 2 Pheasant shots look very like The Great British Pheasant, tho you guys probably have a different name for them?

About composition - have you heard of The Rule of Thirds? It basically means placing your subject within a 3rd of the image. This could be the top, bottom or either side. Picture an image with a line a quarter way down from top and the same at the bottom - a quarter way up, do the same for the sides and your left with 9 boxes. Well this is your 3rds window, placing your subject within any of the thirds windows and your composition is pretty much bang on.

Take a look at this image i took of a Ring Tailed Lemur - Notice how its neck area is in the lower 3rd and its ear is up in the high 3rd. You'll also notice that because the Lemur is looking to the right, ive left room [ space ] for it to look into. This technique is really important to Portrait type work >

The same rules apply throughout Photography - here's an example of a buddy of mine hitting some berms. Notice how he is positioned in the left 3rd with the obstacles ahead to the right [ space ] to show the viewer were he is going? Cool!!!

You must be logged in to see this link.

The same applies in Landscape shots as well. In this shot, your eye is being led up the top right hand 3rd by the pebbles on the beach. The pebbles in the [ space ] on the left are also a good lead in line for the coming storm that present in the image >

Ive probably told you stuff you already know lol

Ps, yea i read the discription lololol
