Well, looks like the Swine Flu scare is dwindling. 1 American woman died, but had other complications. No Americans died from swine flu alone. So it looks like this thing didnt even pack the punch of a normal flu. But I did hear today on msnbc that they are talking about a triple shot proceedure for next flu season, where you get 1 shot for regular flu and 2 for the swine. I wont be taking any flu shots, never have, never will. I'm not about to let somebody purposely inject me with a virus in hopes that my body will create the antibodies to fight it off. I think I'll pass. But you guys may be right. this big scare could have been 2-fold. 1 was another excuse to ask for 1.5 billion and the other could have been to institute a new flu shot proceedure where who knows what they will injecting us with.

As alex and several of his guests are saying, this round of swine flu was only a test to see how many people would be running to the government for help. Apparently they (the government) got the results they wanted.
This round of swine flu was designed to get weaker as it spread but the government is almost promising that the flu will return during the next flu season and it will be deadlier than this current flu.
Now, how the heck do they know that unless they are the ones setting the flu virus loose to begin with?
I've heard a couple different stories about the make up of this current form of swine flu. One story says that it is made up of one part normal flu combined with two parts swine flu. Another story says that this virus is made up of normal flu virus, swine flu virus and the bird flu virus and possibly mixed with some insect dna.
In either case it is impossible in my opinion for any flu virus to mix together like this normally. It would only work if this swine flu was created by design, not by natural processes. This must be why the government isn't calling it swine flu any more but H1N1.

Ah, you may be very right. I think all of these new age diseases are government made. I suppose some could be mutations due to human contaminants in the environment. But I think a normal healthy mind/body can handle most natural illnesses and what it cant, nature provides a cure for. Anytime there is a new scare of some deadly disease, never heard of before, I am suspiscious. We are curious little pig-monkeys and we often play with things we should leave alone. So some of these diseases might be true accidents but swine feels orchestrated in the media. A test run for a deadlier variant of the strain would not surprise me. The way they see it, there are too many of us on this planet anyways and if this isnt about enforcing new laws and more control, it could be part of the depopulation agenda. Or perhaps both. They benefit either way.

Another woman has supoosedly died from swine now. That makes 2 american women so far. So you have about the same chance of being killed by somebody flipping a booger off the Empire State Building as you do for swine flu. We'll have to see if they start reporting more deaths. This woman had been in the hospital for several weeks and was pregnant. Again, swine flu just contributed, it didnt kill her alone. She already suffering from other stuff. The doctors took the baby by sea section.

Oh duh, I flubbed. I think I was hearing 2 reports for the same woman. I think it is still only 1 American death. Sorry for the mistake.

Oops...my booboo. I have to ask a question that I dont see being asked in the media. If this woman was already in bad shape and had been hospitalized for a couple weeks, then how did she get swine flu?

I’m with HumanAlien on this subject. My knowledge and opinion about the drug companies are that they aren’t driving the issue, but standby to cash in on it if they can – right or wrong, needed in reality or not. I believe any administration loves the kind of publicity this kind of issue offers because it gives government the opportunity to demonstrate their “concern” and to hype up their “authority” status to the public. I recall in the late 70’s or early 80’s there was an “African swine fever” outbreak, the “hot spot” isolated to Haiti. The “Aids” epidemic was at its height and there were concerns that if Aids somehow got into pigs, or that the African swine fever got into people with Aids, a really nasty infectious virus could come of it, if it then went through birds. One of the people from the agency unit I worked for at the time was sent on assignment to Haiti. He said they killed every pig and replaced them with pigs specially grown in the U.S. As I recall, outside of Haiti itself, these operations were somewhat covert. My opinion of the operation was that an epidemic was avoided, if in fact, it ever would have really turned into one. From that experience, I do know that the current “swine flu” outbreak is different. It is the same flu that went through humans in 1918 and killed a lot of people (H1N1). Those that survived, and apparently their progeny became immune; but now that the same virus has gotten into the pigs, the fear is what might happen if it goes through birds, and then back again, to humans. Maybe nothing: it has been said that H1N1 resists change, and that the known mutant H3N2 is much less serious. I’ll leave out details how viruses mutate through birds – but to me, all the government and media hype piled onto this justifies the issues raised by HumanAlien on this subject. Just about a year ago a boy in north-central U.S. was diagnosed with Swine Flu after visiting sick pigs at a local fair. Was there any news hype about that incident? Maybe, but I don’t remember any. By chance, I came across the person upon which I based the character “Scott” in my novel Alien Witness; I hadn’t seen him in years, (he was wearing an agency logo t-shirt and was practicing some pistol shooting even though he appears quite old these days), and I don’t expect to see him again. I asked him about the connection between the Swine Flu and the Waterboarding issue. He said, “That’s classified.” I hate to say this because it’s not in character with my style or image as a writer; but after interviewing, and I believe “Scott” does sometimes bring out the worst in me, I asked, “Why go through such detail and trouble – if they want to extract information from certain specific captives – why just not threaten them with a spoonful of bacon grease?” Knowing I was trying to get a rise from him to tell me something, he remarked, “Why don’t you just look at the map and research countries where swine flu is, and is not: then decide for yourself if it’s a ploy in the war against terror.” The regular flu, different each year, is worse than the swine flu. As long as swine flu virus has been around, my guess is that it wouldn’t be worse even if it went through birds – if it hasn’t already. The regular flu is different each year because it mutates through birds, mostly water fowl, and then goes airborne. Many families in many Asian cultures maintain flocks of 60 or more birds for meat, eggs, and fibers. The human flu virus gets into the water and then mutates through the water fowl. Those places are where they go to get the raw materials for “flu shots” each year, months before the jet stream shifts our way with the season and the flu virus (tiny particles) precipitate down upon us. Flu shots work for some people; I say, “No thanks!” I prefer to take my chances with antiviral products instead, if needed. I remember some small local “unseasonable” flu outbreaks centered on ponds in neighborhood communities or parks where migratory ducks took up residence permanently along with domestic pet ducks “released” by owners. It wasn’t common, but when it did happen, it was preferable to remove them quickly and quietly to avoid “protests”.

Yeah welcome Carson.
I felt like crap all day yesterday. I thought for a moment, wonder if swine is going around locally. Today I'm all better though. It must have been just some 24 hour flu bug.

Not to change the subject but i noticed that congress and the white house are going hot and heavy with the illegal interrogation practices that had been used and i thought to myself, well, this looks like a good time to bring up another scare tactic to take peoples minds off of it.
Just seconds before coming here to post that idea, low and behold, swine flu has made a come back to new york city. three schools are closed because of it according to cnn.
It was said that the second time around, this virus would be a killer. I wonder if this is the second time around or is this still the same strand that was there before. The weaker version.
