No prob. Yeah the case was definately missed if you were under the impression that this was for presenting a case for believing in God. It was never about presenting a case for God. God was never the real issue. For me, this was like many of his videos, a skit, only it had an underlying meaning but I think people will be to distracted by the God issue and his mannerism to find the real issue. The example could have been one of many issues. He's the AA though so it's gonna be god for him. But yeah, the important issue here wasn't atheist kids in particular. That was simply the catalyst. The real issue is much more valid but I failed to present it in a more coherent manner. I wished to trigger a certain response but I did not provide enough initial substance to induce such a response. You might say I failed my own test, lol. It's ok. I'm still learning. I'll do better next time. I promise.

I now realize that this was not the proper thread for what I wanted to convey in the AA vid, lol. Silly me. Here, have a new dose of Pat. This is far more fitting for this thread. Pat's been pretty quiet lately so I was happy to see a new vid from him. Now this one is definately all about religion.

That was a much better view on religion. He talks straight forward
and lays out the video really well.

Thanks for sharing it.

I understood AA's point behind his rant, and in all honesty, I think he's right. What I got from the video was that there's no need to hide what you believe in. Give the finger to anyone who doesn't respect your opinion, because you don't need those kind of people.

Sigh...

Awesome Epic. Yep you hit much closer to what I was thinking. The main issue was indeed speaking your mind and standing up for something you believe in even when it means being ostrosized by your family, friends or community. And of course the problems that arise from not speaking your mind and just going along with the crowd (or the herd, as the case may be). It wasnt about religion or atheism. Those were simply the exmples. It had more to do with free thinking and coming to your own conclussions and then not being afraid to express those conclussions, whatever they may be. Thx for posting what you got from it Epic. By the way Epic, I know this isn't the proper thread for it, but did you ever get a chance to ask your science teacher last year about the strange moon facts?

I think the opposite, I think people should keep their beilefs too themselves, there personal and when people speak their mind it usualy end up in unnecessary arguements.

lol no offense, Rob, but by saying that aren't you expressing a belief? That would make you a hypocrite.

Lol, Brandon, trying to turn it around on Rob, good one.

I think you should keep insignificant issues personal. But I was referring more to public or bigger issues that effect people more openly. If you are asked about something for example, do you lie just so they wont think less of you or do you stand strong with your beliefs? I dont mean you should force your opinions on everyone though. Personally I think if you have a strong opinion on something, you shouldnt be afraid to voice it. And you shouldn't have to be afraid to voice it. But this reflects something about our society and how we don't encourage free thinking. Anything that strays from the herd is often ridiculed or the person themselves are looked down on. Children aren't encouraged to question information. They are encourage to take the information they are given and memorize it to become little repeaters, repeating the opinions and beliefs they've been told. This is a true hindrence to social progress. I think it's one thing to have a different opinion and it's another to feel strongly enough about it that you don't need to hide it just because it's not what everyone else thinks. And basically, as a general rule, if you dont voice your opinion then things will likely be done that you may not agree with, and if you don't voice your opinion, you have no real right to complain about it when they do. That's kind of how I feel about it. On matters that effect the people, it is even more important to speak your mind. There are always self-serving individuals who care more about personal gain then they do the good of the people. Self-serving individuals will almost always speak their mind so good people better step up and speak theirs too or you will end up with a world ruled by greed and corruption....oh wait, we already have that. Nvrmnd, hehe.

***edit***
I got distracted again and forgot my main thought, lol. Anyways, it's hard to deny that we sometimes just go along with the flow to avoid incident. But what does it say when you are afraid to speak your mind for fear of being shunned? And who is more at fault here? The person who would shun or condemn somebody for thinking differently or the person who is too afraid to speak the truth about how they really feel? I found it an interesting subject but some of you may not which is perfectly fine. BTW, did anyone hear yesterday that there is a group out there who wants to update or revise the christian bible (again)? I just saw it on MSNBC yesterday. Apparently they feel it is much too liberal, lol.
