Wow, and thats the one I thought would be untrue. Did you see that first offense for not slowing down for a tow truck is $300 plus court fees? It's $500 for a second offense. I think they are running out of good ideas for fines so they are just making up stupid crap now. Truck drivers will be happy though. Now they can go 65mph instead of 55. I guess driving with wipers on but without your headlights and tow trucks were more of a traffic risk than speeding semi's, lol. Thx for the info H/A.

They are pushing more support for carbon taxing this week. On msnbc they are telling people that there is a limit to the level of CO2 to safely have in the atmosphere and apparently we are already past it or right about at it (350 somethings per something, yaddayadda). They are saying that it's a big threat and that the nations aren't doing enough to combat this (meaning the taxing isn't coming in fast enough). So they are beginning to set co2 limits which will of course bring in the fines/taxes. It's just like how a few months back they started pushing this obeisity in America "epidemic" so that people would support Fat Taxes and hiked insurance plans for overweight people. Nevermind the problems with anerexia(sp?) in young women today because of the image that is put out there that pretty people = skinny people. They push the "dangerous levels of co2" scam so that you will support carbon taxing. They even said that all of the countries are saying the same thing about global warming and co2, totally ignoring the petition that 31,000 scientist from around the world signed claiming that global warming is not man made. Levels of CO2 has little to do with atmospheric temperatures. All the scientist are saying it's the sun that primarily controls Earths temperature as well as the temperatures of all the other planets. Oxygen levels are on a slow decline but carbon taxing isn't going to do a damn thing to help that. Sorry to rant but that's what this thread is for I guess. It just disgust me on how much people are manipulated into supporting bad science and stupid ideas. So much crap is diguised as a "good cause" when it is not at all. Good causes arent about profit. They are about the betterment of all, which we are seeing very little of. If they really wanted to clean up the air, they would stop burning fossil fuels as a source of energy. But I guess they would rather tax us for breathing. Yeah that makes more sense...to a monkey.

You need to quit watching MSNBC. LOL They are what fox news was to bush. MSNBC is that democratic side of the war machine and Fox News is the republican side of the war machine. I haven't figure out who's side CNN is on yet but in either case, everyone just needs to stop watching all these cable news channels because all they are trying to do is get your dander up.
I remember Keith Olbermann was all over bush about how everything he did was wrong but now that obama is in office, he can't kiss that brown a$$ fast enough. That really took me by surprise because i thought keith was for the people but now i know that the news business is just a game with one side playing against the other.
Everyone knows that this carbon crap is just a big scam to get more of your hard earned dollars and nothing more. The question is, what are we as citizens of this country going to do about it?

I dont really like anyone on MSNBC, I just like watching for all the crap. They all seem to just report whatever is given to them. I cant stand Dr. Nancy and she is on all of the time now. I'm not about to stop watching though. We need to stay updated on what kind of crap they are trying to sell to the American people. These are dangerous times and lies are coming in from all sides. You dont know who to believe half of the time. As long as you watch knowing that you are likely about to be lied to, you are ok, lol. It really doesn't matter who you watch. You can read between the lines on either. Sometimes I switch back and forth between FOX and MSNBC just for comparison of stories and what sides they take. But again it's that whole illusion of choice thing.

See, what they need to do is not tax for producing carbon dioxide, but INSTEAD start paying people (or just tax breaks) for every plant/tree they grow. I mean, c'mon. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that if you want to lower CO2, you plant more trees. See if ya'll can spread that one around. Get people to start planting more plants and trees. We'd all start breathing alot better.

You know Brandon, that's not a very bad idea. if you think of the Earth as a living organism, than right now she is like a heavy set lady who smokes 4 packs a day. Most of our oxygen comes from some kind of algae but it has dwindled too but I think all plants produce oxygen so theoretically planting anything should help if it's on a large scale. Trees would probably be the best though considering how many we cut down on a regular basis. We need to become more like farmers again and get in touch with nature and work towards preserving it instead of destroying it. If we were like caretakers of the Earth we could even easily support a population much larger than we have now. But you are right, try selling going green for real to them. They want people to believe that going green means turning off a lightbulb, lol. How does that help the environment? Your idea does makes sense on many levels though. The higher the CO2 levels get, the more we need to plant. Seems simple enough. But I guess taxing us to death is more fun.

Excellent idea Brandon. Such a simple thing to do to cure our (laugh) CO2 problem and the government can't think of this?

Well one constant that I've learned in my few short years is that 98% of all people are complete idiots. The other 2% are idiots only half the time.
How long have they been talking about this global warming business? 40 years now? And I haven't heard anything in that time about planting more trees. On the contrary, we've been steadily and exponentially knocking down more and more trees every years SINCE they started talking about global warming.
As I only believe in helping people who help themselves (which is actually very few people), I've come up with the following deal: As some of you may have heard me mention before, I've come up with a design for an engine that is completely fuel-less. Not as in "alternative fuel", I mean as in it doesn't run on fuel at all. It's actually a very simple idea and I think it could easily work (as do the mechanical engineers that I've talked to about it). I WAS going to patent it and sell the idea to Ford Motors (I like Henry Ford, he was an adventurer as well as a great inventor), but instead I've decided that if humans as a whole can show me that they're willing to help themselves by planting, oh I don't know, say 100 million trees worldwide, I'll put the patent in public domain free of charge, no strings attached, and you all can do with it what you will. Sound fair?

That's a great idea because there is no way people are going to work together to plant 100 million trees and how can it be checked?
You're going to wind up selling the patent anyway because I don't see how it's going to work... I know that it isn't that hard if you put it in perspective but y'know how humans are.

100 million trees isn't that hard. I mean, there's 305 million people in the US alone, so that's just one tree per person for less than 1/3 of the American population. And it doesn't have to be trees necessarily. Plants of any kind would do. My philosophy is that if people aren't willing to help themselves then they're not worth helping.

And that's exactly my point, people don't want to do it and/or ignore it, they think that someone else should clean up their mess.

Different trees absorb different amounts of CO2, depending on size and many other variables.
You may need more or less than 100 million trees, but I would need to know how many tons of CO2 have been produced by the US, and it would carry on continuously, leaving a few million tons unaffected. I'm gonna look for a formula to find out how much CO2 is absorbed by the most absorbant plant.
Not just picking holes for the sake of it, just wondering. Also, Brandon, be on MSN more.

Ok, sorry lol. I've just been busy.
Yeah, I was thinking bout that earlier. Not the part about different absorption levels (nice idea, btw), but I was thinking that we should measure how much oxygen one plant puts out and then we can figure out what the amount of C02 in the atmosphere should be and then figure out how many plants it'd take to return it to normal relatively soon.
But would you all be on board with that? Even if its just us planting a tree or a plant in our backyard or something, that's something. And maybe eventually we can get millions of people to start doing the same thing. It's exactly how Elrick said, they want us to believe that going green is just flipping off a light. We need to do our part by planting at least something. This is our planet and it's our responsibility to clean it up, whether we made the mess or not. Grow some food, or roses, or even pot lol, idc. Just plant something. Will ya'll help me do that? I'll plant my own plant and even post pictures up to show that I'm taking care of it for a few weeks. What do ya'll think?

That is a wonderful idea Brandon. I live in the north though and winter is coming in fast so I'm not sure what I can plant that will live. I'll talk with Mary about it and see if she has any ideas. If it's still doable, I want to plant a garden this spring and start providing some of my own organic food (if TPTB will let me that is).
