I heard about this the other day as well.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/14/bigfoot.body/index.html?section=cnn_latest
Theres a video of the press conference in this one, he seems pretty convincing: http://www.ktvu.com/news/17174989/detail.html
I hope it is real, that would be awesome. Finally an answer to what all of these people have been seeing. I have WANTED to believe in Bigfoot for a looooong time, but was always skeptical because THIS has never happened. I mean if something like a Bigfoot is living above ground with the rest of us, there would HAVE to be some sort of physical evidence SOMEWHERE right? We shall see what happens!! |

It isn't real.
It's a hoax made by two guys who organise bigfoot "tours"/expeditions, Mr. Biscardi, the "scientist" has also something to do with making money out of Bigfoot.
Speculations are that it is a movie prop stowed in a freezer.
The two guys said they would have DNA evidence, photographs, etc. at the press conference but they didn't show any of that.
Do your research gents.

Um.......... yeah they did:
http://news.aol.com/article/scientist-says-bigfoot-fails-dna-test/136118?icid=200100397x1207828126x1200419960
However the DNA evidence turned out to be partially human and mostly opossum.
quote: One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis.

Any new information come forward on this yet? They are likely to be very cautious to announce it as authentic, due to its implications, but imagine if it were. I am still waiting for the final word on this.....

I don't want to hear anything about this anymore, we had this figured out from the beginning of it all. With we I mean cryptozoologists (I don't reckon myself a cryptozoologist, I am a researcher). ;)
It is all bs and they wanted to get money out of it, they failed.

Daan, if you dont want to hear anymore about this, then might I suggest you not read any threads that say bigfoot in the title. Personally I'd like to hear more about it because I still have questions.
Im suprised these guys got so much attention from just a rubber suit. They had to know this would end badly and they eventually would be found out and discredited for life. Nobody will ever believe any future claims from these guys now, even if they do one day discover something. Its strange the things that motivate people to set themselves up for obvious failure. Im a little interested in the point to all of this. They had to know that as soon as it was turned over to somebody, that they would imediately discover it to be fake. So Im curious as to the why factor. Did they plan to have the body mysteriously disappear or something? They had to know that a rubber suit wouldnt fool anyone once examined. Maybe they hoped to rake in a fortune and then leave the country, I dont know, lol. And now what happens to these guys? I mean they should be brought up on charges of some sort, maybe have to serve some jail time. We need to discourage hoaxers, and not encourage them. So are these guys just really that stupid or did something go wrong with their original plan? Oh well, I am still hopeful that a genuine bigfoot will be discovered one day but hoaxes like this can really hurt the attitude that people have towards these subjects in general, whether it be Bigfoot, aliens, ghosts, Nessie, etc....
Thx for the link H.A.

These guys were working with a guy called Biscardi, probably a friend of them...
Check out www.cryptozoology.com if you haven't...
You might not find the best posts on this topic because Stu (creator of www.cryptozoology.com decided not to read anything about it knowing that it was a fraud from the beginning)...

Yeah they got people all over the world excited about this only to be a big let down. I had doubts from the start but was hopeful. But disappointing and wasting the time of hundreds of people is not the saddest part. Hoaxes like this can have a very negative effect on the general public and media's attitude toward the subject. One hoax being revealed can make people suspect that all past and future claims are hoaxes. Or the bleed factor, when the discrediting on one topic somehow fausly discredits other topics that people have generically catagorized as the same in the minds. Thats a little confusing, sorry. I mean when people put things like bigfoot, Nessie, ufos, ghost, etc all in the same catagory and think that because one isnt real that the other isnt either, when in all fairness, they each deserve their own attention. We see a mild example of this here in this article title:
Bigfoot Hoax — why we continue to believe http://blogs.earthsky.org/jeremyshere/2008/08/20/bigfoot-hoax-why-we-continue-to-believe/
But in all fairness I suppose the reverse is true as well. If one of these topics is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, then people will start to think that maybe some of the other topics are real as well. So this lead me in another direction. Do you think any groups out there would hide evidence about one topic, just to keep the heat off of another topic? For example, say bigfoot was found but that he/she isn't from earth, but is an alien or the aliens muscle. Or if the hollow earth theory is true but it leads to the Reptilians. Or say Nibiru is real but revealing it means to reveal our own possible destruction. Or maybe they know who built the pyramids and other great structures but cant say because the builders were not of this earth. Or if our "god(s)" are really aliens who are running some sort of earth project but if it ever becomes common knowledge to the earthlings, it will taint the results of the current stage of developement and the project will have to be terminated or restarted. Or, or, or.......
I dont think this is at all the case in this latest bigfoot hoax but it did get me thinking in strange directions. Sometimes that can be fun. It made me wonder if certain topics will never be allowed to be authenticated because it means possible exposure of another topic....
